Private James Findlay

The background of this North Irish Horseman is not known at present.

James Findlay (or Finlay, or Finley) enlisted in the North Irish Horse between 29 January and 12 April 1917 (regimental number between 2382 and 2387 – later Corps of Hussars No.71789).

In January 1918 he embarked for Egypt with a draft of North Irish Horsemen from the regiment's Antrim reserve camp. There he was attached to the 1/1st Nottinghamshire Yeomanry (Sherwood Rangers).

Little more is known of his military service, other than that in April 1919 he was treated at the 31st Casualty Clearing Hospital at Ludd in Palestine for an ingrown toenail.

Findlay was still serving in December 1919.
